The boy/girl combo is pretty popular in music at the moment. Tennis and Cults are current examples of couples (whether that be literally or romantically) making tracks in the indie music scene. Big Deal are the latest, but don’t go expecting summery surf-rock of sugar coated electro-pop from this particular pairing. Recording solely on an acoustic and an electric guitar, Big Deal create music which is lo-fi, sombre and inspired by the slacker guitar movement of the early 1990s, making the kind of music that won Kurt Vile such great plaudits earlier this year for his recent album Smoke Ring For My Halo.
