Local art collective, Blessing Force have unveiled a brand new compilation titled Stutters #1, hosting the finest of its ever-expanding musical output. Currently hosted on the Guardian new music website, this is a typically lovable selection of chill-wave and fuzzed-up indie-pop, with a continuing warmth throughout in a manner we have come to expect from Blessing Force.
There is certainly a sense of ‘the gang’s all here’on Stutters #1 as the familiar sounds of Pet Moon, aka Blessing Force founder Andrew Mears; Jonquil and Solid Gold Dragons all make appearances with both original tracks and in remixed form. It is the less publicized acts however that really shine in this release; Sisterland‘s offering is a hip-shaking surf-pop gem and Motherhood up the chill-wave stakes even further with the dreamy ‘Heat Within Mourning’.
To coincide with the release of this compilation, Blessing Force are staging an event at the O2 Academy on Saturday 17th December. Alongside sets from the aforementioned Jonquil, Pet Moon, Sisterland and Motherhood, it will also feature art installations from Foals collaborator Tinhead, Valeska Hykel, Amy Honour and Charlotte Freeston.
