What is it about the aesthetic of cycling which seems to draw in electronic artists? The obvious example is Kraftwork, but Boards of Canada provide another illustration of this fitting sychronicity between sound and vision in their oddly disturbing video for ‘Everything You Do Is A Balloon’. Kit Grill is another artist who reinterprets the link between the rhythms of minimalist electronica and track cyclists with his recent video for the song ‘Velodrome’. Taken from his upcoming LP Mirror Image, ‘Velodrome’ is simple, clean and steady electronica, laudable for it’s restrained vision and self-control.
London based musician Grill first started making music in 2009 and after a year off in 2011 he released Expressions, a limited edition 6-track EP with a screen printed sleeve on his own label Primary Colours in March 2013.
Mirror Image was made over 8 months during 2013 and features 12 tracks taken from over 100+ ideas. Grill also Designs and Art Directs each release, using photographs or artwork he has made for the covers. Once a month he also hosts a 2hr radio show on NTS Radio.
Mirror Image will be released on Monday 25 November 2013 via GetMe! Records.
