My Grey Horse have released this video for the second track taken from their recent EP Stop Before The Dry River. Typical of what the band have produced so far, ‘Big Night’ is a song that once you’ve heard, you’ll be singing it in your head for the rest of the day/month/year/millennia. That’s the real feather in this band’s cap; the ability to write memorable melodies and catchy tunes. It may sound like a fairly simple selling point, but never under-estimate the skill it takes to write brilliant pop tunes.
In spring 2013, My Grey Horse swapped their homes for a log-cabin in the wilderness of the Forest of Dean, and began writing new material. Whilst everybody else had brought enough packed lunches to last them a month, Tom had forgotten all but what he’d picked up from Cash Converters that day: a miniscule casio-tone keyboard. Combined with a high-school-type distortion, this became the sound of Big Night. As the band were focussed on their exile in Herefordshire, they sent the song to a Berlin-based video artist, Aaron Kelly. After a fortnight, My Grey Horse received a package that contained his video.
My Grey Horse have spent the summer recording their debut album and we, for one, cannot wait to hear it. You can download ‘Big Night’ as a free download on their Bandcamp page.
