The Antlers have announced that the song ‘I Don’t Want Love’ is to be their next single taken from their recent LP Burst Apart. The track will be released on September 26th on Transgressive Records. Burst Apart is already one of the best releases of 2011 and ‘I Don’t Want Love’ is the striking opener from said album. Showcasing front-man Peter Silberman’s propensity for writing uncomplicated songs with bittersweet lyricism, the track represents what the album does best as a whole; delving deeper into each song and extracting different layers of sound, pulling them closer to the surface and them dropping them back down again.
The band have some live dates booked in the UK this November, so if you haven’t seen them already, make sure you do. Having seen them perform Hospice at the O2 Academy Oxford a couple of years ago, I was astonished at the raw emotion on display. Silberman’s voice is a wonder to behold. Underneath are a few videos of the band performing songs off the album with special guest collaborations from other artists Neon Indian, Bear In Heaven and Nicole Atkins.
