I would like to see North Atlantic Oscillation and British Sea Power have a fight. I reckon British Sea Power would have won once upon a time, but their days of wielding twigs and foliage and singing about insects sadly seems to be behind them, instead they seem too concerned with asking us rhetorical questions about musical genres. It’s such a shame that the name of their thrilling debut album has become a self-fulfilling epitaph. Anyway, there is very much a new space in my life for an eccentric English band with an eccentric English name, and I think North Atlantic Oscillation may have just landed a knock-out punch. ‘Savage With Barometer’ is a first track to be released from the band’s impending sophomore Fog Electric and is very much for fans of the shoegaze stylings of Sigur Ros and the hazy, floating vocals of Grandaddy. Fog Electric has been recorded and produced by Tony Doogan (Super Furry Animals, Mogwai, Teenage Fanclub, Belle & Sebastian) and will be released on April 30th, 2012 via Kscope.
