What finer feeling is to be had in the summertime than the breezy, salty gust of an Atlantic gust rushing against your face, with the sound of lapping waves and all whilst the sun beams down illuminating the hairs on your skin turning them golden blonde? Next question, can you encapsulate that feeling in under three minutes? Denver husband-wife duo Tennis have had a fair old stab at encapsulating the sound of summer with their new song ‘Take Me Somewhere’.
The band are set to release their debut LP, Cape Dory, which will land on our less-than-sunny shores on May 23rd courtesy of Carmen San Diego Records. The band found blogosphere success in early 2010 with their phenomenal slice o’ sunshine track ‘Marathon’ and duly caught the attention of Pitchfork, Stereogum, Gorilla Vs Bear and the Guardian.
The video for ‘Take Me Somewhere’ preps you for the story behind the album; Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore got bored of humdrum 9-5 life, abandoned it all, saved up for a sailboat, and then embarked on a lengthy 8 month voyage along the Atlantic coastline, documenting their trip in song along the way. This romantic idealism permeates the song, and the album as a whole.
