New Video: WU LYF

Forget the dodgy name, WU LYF’s new single is very promising. Mixing the tribal drumming of bands like Local Natives, the choppy guitar melodies of Foals, ethereal backing vocals resonant of Wild Beasts and a frontman with a voice as gravelly as Lil Wayne, it’s no wonder Zane Lowe made ‘Dirt’ his “Hottest Record” last week.

The video itself is pretty obvious, tackling the whole “hey man, police are bad, look at this one push over a student” kind of vibe (all it needs is to be interspersed with footage of the Nuremberg rallies to tick all the boxes), but the song itself possesses enough intrigue to keep one eye firmly on what the band will do next.

The band are set to tour the UK this June (see dates underneath) and will release their debut album Go Tell Fire To The Mountain on June 13th courtesy of the band’s own L Y F Recordings.

8th June: Leicester Y Club

What fucking lazy influences. The LYF deserves better judgement than that,
