Did you know a women was once hanged in Oxford Castle? Now you do. True fact. Anyway, tonight there will be no execution through strangulation within the famous fortified walls of Oxford Castle (well, if there is, it certainly isn’t detailed in the programme) but some musical entertainment in the form of “Live and Unlocked”, celebrating 150 years of The Oxford Times. Tamara Parsons-Baker, Dubwiser, Swindlestock, Duchess, Nairobi will all perfrom and there will be headline sets from Little Fish and Secret Rivals. The castle will also be opening up the old crypts and the D-Wing…it doesn’t state the importance of this particular wing on their website, but I’m guessing this is where all the shiving and bumming took place…once upon a time. Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost £8 in advance and £9 on the door. The evening will finish with DJ sets from Smilex, Yoof! and Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band. What better way to spend a Friday night! Just don’t drop the soap.
