Oxford electronic project PADDOX have unveiled a video for their new single ‘Past Life’ on Tue 26 April ahead of the release of their new EP, Optimistic Visions of the Future. The EP is PADDOX’s second release since their 2015 debut album Aphrodisiaque, the first ever record to be released in a concrete casing, and sees PADDOX moving from the ambient soundscapes of their first release to embrace a more dance-oriented beat-driven collection of songs.
Single ‘Past Life’ opens with an intro of swirling, glitchy electronics before settling into an incessant Berlin-techno beat complete with breathy vocal mantras. The video, filmed in Oxford’s Safehouse Studios, is recorded in the seedy CCTV monochromatic style and features PADDOX frontman Kit Monteith showing off his best dance moves for the camera.
PADDOX consists of Kit Montieth (Foals/Trophy Wife), Ben Rimmer (Trophy Wife/Jonquil) and Jeremy Moors. Their debut album Aphrodisiaque was released in last year via One Note Forever/Bear on a Bicycle Records as a limited edition vinyl encased in concrete and was named amongst the405’s best album covers of the year. PADDOX have performed shows in Oxford, London and Paris including a headline show at Modern Art Oxford.
