Preview: The O’s @ The Holly Bush, Oxford

If you find yourself in a post-Premier League haze by the time next Sunday evening swings around and you feel like filling that MOTD2 shaped hole with some authentic Americana, then drag your bum to the Holly Bush near Oxford Rail Station.

On Sunday 5th June, the Holly Bush will host a show featuring Dallas, TX based duo The O’s. The band, comprising of Taylor Young and John Pedigo, are currently touring the release of their sophomore album Between The Two and describe themselves thusly: “Well, we sweat too much for a folk band, drink too much for a pop band and rock too much for a country band. Our music lies somewhere in between. Like the feeling of standing on a rooftop and singing an old Louvin Brothers tune at 4AM. The O’s will always be about the song. We’ll always be about the party.”

So instead of yearning after Lee Dixon’s spot on defenive analysis, Robbie Savage’s flowing locks and childish wit or even Mark Lawrenson’s terminally glum facial features, get yourself down the Holly Bush and watch a couple of dudes singing in harmony about whiskey and broken-hearts over banjos, guitars, harmonicas, kick drums and tambourines. Tickets cost £4.
