PADDOX – OPTIMISTIC VISIONS OF THE FUTURE
Optimistic Visions of the Future marks a new direction for PADDOX. Their debut LP Aphrodisiaque (released in December 2015 via One Note Forever/Bear on a Bicycle) explored sensuous ambient electro through drones and minimal synth textures on a vinyl release encased in a brutalist concrete cover. Moving away from the drawn out, mediative soundscapes of Aphrodisiaque, Optimistic Visions of the Future is an upbeat, beats driven release complete with idiosyncratic vocal mantras.
New single and EP opener ‘Past Life’ begins with fractured soundscapes before introducing the relentless beat which consumes the rest of the song. Layers of fragmented synth sounds and seedy vocals weave into the main body of the track, giving colour the starkness and harshness ‘Past Life’s incessant rhythm.
PADDOX are currently made up of Kit Monteith (formerly of Trophy Wife and sometime collaborator with Foals), Jeremy Moors and Ben Rimmer (also formerly Trophy Wife).
