Long-standing rock outfit Smilex have announced that their upcoming gigs are to be their last of the year. Smilex, who have gigged in Oxford for over 8 years, insist that this far from spells the end of the band and is a practical issue rather than down to any usually-cited ‘musical differences’.
The rest of the year will see Lee and Pat will continue work on their anticipated new album while the other members pursue different projects in New York. There is also plans for reworkings of Smilex songs to be performed in March when they collaborate with contemporary visual artist Naomi Morris.
In the meantime, Smilex play the O2 Academy tonight, Wahoo on the 22nd and Witney’s Fat Lil’s on the 24th; they truly are one of Oxford finest live acts so don’t wait until 2012 to see them!
