On June 14th, Spring Offensive will play their only headline show before their presumably busy summer festival schedule here in Oxford, at the St Barnabas Church in Jericho. The band have teamed up with Oxfork for this one (who will host a virgin cocktail bar on the night) and anyone who preorders tickets at £6 (£7 on the door) receive an exclusive 6-track acoustic EP, recorded live during the shows they played at peoples’ house parties at the end of April, which will be sent to them as a download link completely free of charge. It’ll be the only way of getting hold of these recordings, and the link will be taken down after the show has taken place.
The show will also see support from Ollie and Rob from Stornoway’s new band Count Drachma, whose songs, influenced by Juluka, Orchestra Baobab and tUnE-yArDs, are exclusively sung in Zulu. Opening the bill is Liverpool dark folk three-piece All We Are (Theo: “one of our favourite bands we’ve come across this year – fans of Other Lives and Low will love these guys.”).
In what has already been a busy year for the band, these next few shows will ease them into a hectic and potentially telling summer schedule as the band look to establish themselves firmly in the British indie music scene. They certainly deserve it!
