Often inspired by the exotic wonders of global travel, the perennial, an often spiky, figure of Zach Condon returns with another release as his folk-inspired troupe Beirut. The Rip Tide will be released on August 29th courtesy of Pompeii Records and can now be exclusively streamed on The Guardian website.
There is a distinctly recognizable feeling to the album, not really bucking the trend of what previously made Beirut so lauded and loved by fans and critics alike. I get the feeling that some fans will enjoy the familiarity of The Rip Tide, whereas others may feel that it is a disappointing sideways step.
Listen for yourself at The Guardian and do tell us what you think!

2nd Sept: Dorset UK, End of the Road
4th Sept: Stradballyr Ireland, Electric Picnic
