Capping off a fine 12 months in which they have flourished from a woozy solo project to a full blown band of noise-makers, Mutes are signing off 2015 with a new video for the title-track from their recent EP Starvation Age.
Combining scrappy, VHS footage from recent live shows (including a show which formed part of One Note Forever’s residency at Modern Art Oxford) and trippy visuals, ‘Starvation Age’ is torn at the edges noise-rock bristling with restless punk spirit.
The closing track from their second EP (their first as a full band) features stacked up vocals, cranked up guitars and ends with a trail of feedback which pulls you deep into the black-hearted void. ‘Starvation Age’ finds Mutes at their most merciless; steeped in black and furiously pummelling their instruments, the track points towards a new direction for the band, one which sees them embrace a darker tone and all-out assault of noise.
The video for ‘Starvation Age’ was created by Thomas Mark Whitfield and exclusively premiered by DIY Magazine on Monday 7 December.
‘Starvation Age’ is taken from Mutes’ second EP Starvation Age which was released by One Note Forever Records on 29 June 2015. The EP is now available purchase as a limited edition cassette tape or to download for free at the ONF Store: http://store.onenoteforever.com/
