Wood Festival Warm Up

This Saturday, the Truck Store on Cowley Road will host an evening of live music and organic Cotswold lager in preparation for next weekend’s Wood Festival (20th – 22nd May). Confirmed Wood Festival artists Willy Mason, Sarabeth Tucek, Dreaming Spires and Band Of Hope will all exclusively perform intimate sets at the Truck Store and punters won’t have to pay a single penny to enter. Wood Festival itself takes place at Braziers Park, near Wallingford, and there are still tickets available to purchase.

The Truck Store in-store show begins at 4pm and, as mentioned before, is completely free to enter (although we can’t promise that you won’t end up spending a fortune on some sweet albums!), which is quite a bargain considering that the line-up would probably command upwards of £10 on the door of any other venue. Band Of Hope have supported the likes of Stornoway and Danny And The Champions Of The World and Sarabeth Tucek (when she’s not shrinking heads with her psychologist parents or travelling nomadically across the US) has collaborated with artists such as Bill Callahan and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Willy Mason, of course, is a massive draw for this evening of free entertainment. His captivating, soft vocals, knack for catchy melodies and charismatic stage presence has obviously made him one of Truck’s favourite artists, having headlined at last year’s OX4 festival aswell. Expect the big man, an acoustic guitar and mass sing-a-longs!

Of course, this is just the beginning; one week later, the big event takes place and for three days, Wood Festival brings you a glorious celebration of music and nature. The festival possesses an ethos of making the festival going experience a greener one: “Wood Festival runs entirely on renewable energy and aims to highlight green issues and through participation promote an ecologically friendly lifestyle, with composting toilets, showers heated by wood-burning stove and a solar-powered stage. You can even spend your time dancing into the night in a bicycle powered discotheque.”

It’s not just about saving the world though, it’s also about great music and this year’s festival is no different with sets from: Willy Mason, Eliza Carthy Band, Thea Gilmore, Zeus, Khaïra Arby, The Epstein, Trevor Moss And Hannah Lou, Mama Rosin, Dreaming Spires, Treetop Flyers, Telling The Bees and many, many more.

Check the Wood Festival website for further details on the line-up, buying tickets and getting there.
