It’s been nearly two years now since our inception at a sunny Truck Festival where two of us were wondering around pestering the general populous, informing them of a new local music website coming soon to a computer screen near you. We’re genuinely chuffed with the rate at which OMB has grown and expanded each passing month thanks to its team of contributors, photographers and (most importantly of all) regular readers. With a site refurbishment on the cards in the near future, now is the perfect opportunity to expand our team of senior contributors. We are currently looking for determined, reliable and inventive people who would be interested in the taking one of the following roles on offer: News Editor (x2), Reviews Editor and Live Editor.
Think you’re the right person for the job? You must be enthusiastic about writing, well-organised and an active supporter of the local Oxford music scene. No experience necessary, but we would like to see evidence of what qualities you feel you would bring to such a role. These are all unpaid roles, but, of course, it’s the perfect opportunity to get actively involved with the Oxford music scene, expand your experience as a music journalist and website editor as well as providing you with a creative outlet full of tasty perks (free tickets to local festivals and gigs, more music than you could shake an iPod at and a chance to get up close and personal with musicians in Oxford).
Here is run down of the roles on offer and what each requires:
News Editor (x2): With OMB providing daily music news, we require two people to take on the mantle of News Editor. This will require you to keep up to date with what is going in the world of music and, more specifically, Oxford’s own music scene. Posting between 2-3 news posts a week will the minimum requirement.
Reviews Editor: OMB aims to bring it’s readers relevant and trustworthy reviews of releases from Oxford’s prestigious music scene as well as music we love from elsewhere. The Reviews Editor will be trusted to keep a firm eye on the goings on in Oxford’s music scene and half an eye on the most exciting upcoming releases from around the world. This role requires forging firm links in Oxford and the wider music industry in order to get hold of those important pre-release promos.
Live Editor: With so many gig going on in Oxford every week, it’s hard to keep up! The Live Editor will be attaining those much feted live guest-list passes for our team of contributors (or even themselves, as long as they’re willing to write a review) as well as getting photographers into shows in order to give OMB the best live review coverage possible. This role also requires writing live previews for those truly unmissable gigs in Oxford.
Of course, if you’d simply like to contribute by writing reviews for us, do not hesitate to get in touch. We’re always on the look for fresh blood!
If any of these roles seem attractive to you, please contact us stating which role you think you would be best at and what qualities, skills and potential past experience you could bring to the job.
We look forward to hearing from you!
All the best
